This basement is located in High River, a small town just south of Calgary. The town had just gone through the most traumatic event in its history, the floods of 2013. When we arrived the hard work of draining, cleaning, and sanitizing the basement had been completed and the time to rebuild had come.
As part of the cleanup effort the basement had been stripped to the framing, but the studs did survive so the layout of the basement remained unchanged. While there were some challenges working in a post-disaster environment, such as a shortage of materials and skilled subtrades, in the end we managed to get it all put back together.
In the end it was incredibly satisfying experience to be able to give these clients, who had been through so much, their old basement back. Now we just hope they never have to go through anything like this again!
